A Gloucester/London based, 1st class undergraduate filmmaker at the University of the West of England and photographer. I’ve directed and edited a few short films, ‘Our City Your Eye’, and ‘Building Bridges’ both went on to win the RTS (Royal Television Society) awards for best short form and best factual. I aim to continue to produce work focused on individuals and social-cultural issues.

So, Pierre what have you been up to the last 6 months/what projects have you been working on?

Currently, I’ve been very fortunate to have been selected in the third round of BBC New creatives in which they have commissioned me to make a short film. The working title of the film is “Kid sees ghosts”. The heart this story is about being a minority especially of African heritage and coming into a white institution/environment and not feeling welcomed.

Has the lockdown affected you in any way or has the unexpected solitude allowed your creativity to flow?

I think the lockdown has affected everyone to at some level, mentally and physically. For myself to has given me time to work on myself and now I have time to peruse hobbies such as Spanish and the piano which I wouldn’t normally have time for. On the other hand, life in solitude for me isn’t what I am used to as I like to have my working area, social life, home life, fitness life all physically separate and not all mashed up in my house, so that’s some of the hurdles I am trying to work on myself currently.

Will what’s gone on change or influence your work in future?

I think it will, especially with my next project as it has given me more time to refine my script and plan my pre-production. However, at the same time it has restricted me on perusing my career into the creativity industry fulltime and working towards my driving licence.

Will it make you look at life differently, if yes/no why?

Yes, it has given me more of an insight into who I am and the things that I need to work on regarding myself and my plans for the future.

What can we expect to see from you when the lockdown’s over?

I plan on immediately getting into full-time work as I graduated from university last year and still working toward getting my foot into the industry of film making.

What are you looking forward to the most?

I’m definitely looking forward to travelling again, as just before the lockdown I was in Japan which was the furthest and longest time away I’ve been away from home. It’s experiences like these that have helped me to develop as a person

If you had to be locked down with another Artist with the view of writing in collaboration, who would it be and why? #LockdownWriteDown

I would want to work with Taika Waititi the New Zealand filmmaker and Oscar wining scriptwriter who is shaking up the film industry with his funny, witty and childish approach to cinema. On a personal level his work really resonates with me as I find it clever how he can touch on sensitive subjects through humour.

Is there any particular music or artist that you’re listening to as a way of lifting your spirits/inspiring you during these uncertain times #LockdownGetDown

In last few years I’ve become increasingly obsessed with a style of music often referred to as music that contains origins and influences from Boom-Bap/ New York” Underground instrumentals, 1960’s and 1970’s jazz samples, and electronic music.

Do you find yourself eating different food during the lockdown, have you a favourite go to comfort food #QuarantineCuisine
